The CYCLE Kids program is especially valuable in a place like Helena, an economically distressed area in the Delta region of Arkansas.

“In a community where there are not a ton of after school activities for kids or parks that are in great shape,” says Todd Dixon, School Director at KIPP Delta ELA, “the CYCLE Kids program is a really neat opportunity here for kids to get more into cycling.”

CYCLE Kids students and their parents enjoyed biking together in the local Tour Da Delta. The event was a wonderful chance for children, parents, and school administrators to ride together through their community. The group enjoyed scenic views of a cypress filled lake, the rolling hills of the St. Francis National Forest, and historical sites from the Civil War including Fort Curtis. The kids loved showing off their new bike skills to their parents on what was sure to be the first of many bike rides together.

Elementary school is a pretty pivotal time. We see this as an opportunity to build lifelong healthy habits with kids.
