More than 200 cyclists, volunteers and supporters joined us to make this year’s Breakaway Bike Ride the best yet! Featuring three breathtaking cycle routes designed for all ages and skill levels, a gourmet lunch, live music and sunshine, the day was truly a celebration of wellness, vibrancy and community. Bob Wolfe, with his exceptional local knowledge, once again knit together three gorgeous rides of varying length and difficulty through the back streets of Lincoln, Stowe, Harvard, Acton, Concord, Bolton and Sudbury.

In April we hosted our first Bike Clinic, a week-long course that brought together an amazing group of community-minded volunteers, mentors, and students. Each student, working with a professional bike mechanic, repaired several bikes donated by the community -- one of which they kept as their own. The surplus bikes will be sold to raise funds to purchase CYCLE Kids workbooks for the next class of new riders.

Alison’s involvement with the cycling community is various and deep, and she has been an instrumental figure in CYCLE Kids.

“Natural” is the word that comes to mind when president and founder, Larry O’Toole, talks about his decision to incorporate charitable work into the culture at Gentle Giant Moving Company. Larry believes every business should be involved in making the world a better place -- it should be as routine as processing payroll or scheduling hours. In 2005, Larry and his team established the Gentle Giant Charitable Foundation to strengthen their community involvement.
