Woom Bikes USA and CYCLE Kids Create A Partnership for Healthier Children

Woom Bikes USA and CYCLE Kids share a vision about the value of cycling in children’s lives.

Austin, TX / New York, NY – June 6th, 2017Woom Bikes USA, the maker of lightweight, high-quality children's bikes and CYCLE Kids, a nonprofit organization changing the lives of children though biking, are pleased to announce their partnership. This partnership allows the organizations to both reach more children with high-quality Woom bikes and increase the physical and emotional health of children through the CYCLE Kids program.

CYCLE Kids provides schools with an educational program designed to promote active lifestyles among kids by introducing them to the joys and health benefits of bicycling.  During their regular physical education class, students learn the fundamentals of biking – everything from the proper sizing for helmets to gear shifting, braking, and how to ride safely in traffic.  They also learn the importance of healthy nutrition; what are healthy portion sizes and how nutritious foods are necessary for both physical and emotional health.

“CYCLE Kids is an amazing program.  It helps children both physically and emotionally, all through simple and fun activity of riding a bike,” says Julianne Idlet, Founder and Executive Director of CYCLE Kids. “Because children work together in teams and support each other in learning how to ride the bikes, we see transformative outcomes.  Children gain confidence and grow socially while learning the importance of being physically active and eating well.”

The program serves 3,600 kids annually in schools across the country – including California, Texas, Arizona, North Carolina, New York and Massachusetts.

Woom Bikes USA is a bike company focused on designing high quality and lightweight bikes for children of all ages. WOOM values safety, ergonomics, handling, design and parts to create environmentally friendly bikes for kids. Their unique Upcycle Membership allows the bike to grow along with the young rider; bikes can be returned for a larger size when a child outgrows it.  WOOM bikes are designed in Europe, and the research and development take place in Austria.

For Woom Bikes USA, partnering with CYCLE Kids is a natural fit.  “Children are the focus of our work.  Finding an organization like CYCLE Kids presents us with the perfect opportunity to reach more children,” says Woom Bikes USA owner Mathias Ihlenfeld.  “CYCLE Kids reflects our values and efforts to bring children together to learn bike safety and understand the benefits of physical activity.”

WOOMBIKES USA was formed in 2014 with the desire to build high-quality and lightweight bicycles for families in North America. Woom is based in Austria and has their US headquarters in Austin, TX.  Mathias Ihlenfeld, Woom Founder and CEO, is a father of two and an active cyclist.  The bikes are shipped for free all across the country from
