CYCLE Kids Celebrates Green Commuters

On a chilly Friday morning, CYCLE Kids representatives found themselves mingling with the Harvard community, giving out bracelets, tattoos, and Clif Bars to the green commuters who attended the first Walk/Ride Day of 2011. Sponsored by the Harvard Square Business Association, the event featured a very green hot breakfast by Fire and Ice and other local eateries. The square filled with community leaders and representatives from diverse organizations promoting their ideas about how to lead an active, healthy lifestyle. Notable attendees included the Mayor of Cambridge, the Superintendent of Cambridge Schools, WalkBoston, the Cambridge Energy Alliance, the Cambridge Climate Action Group, and MassBike.

These Walk/Ride Days take place on the last Friday of every month, year round. Associated events are held in different central locations including community areas, schools, and retail establishments.  If you are interested in participating in future Walk/Ride days, check out the Green Streets Initiative website.
